I was talking to a guy I work with about scratching and he was convinced it was a easy thing to do.
Anyone can move a record back and forth, but to orchestrate a set like this takes a lot of practice. It is way more then your hand on a record going back and forth, the skill involved is on par with a accomplished guitar player.
The sad thing about turntablism is that it was the backbone of hip hop, It was a crucial element that pushed it forward. Now it is almost nonexistent in hip hop music, but turntablism never died it formed it's own identity... you can not kill what can't be killed!
